August 15, 2023 Absolutely terrible experience! The gentleman at the front desk was beyond rude. I booked my reservation over the phone with a Marriott employee that morning. I stated I was inquiring about the government rate at this property. As a Marriott Bonvoy member I have stayed at their sister property and have had no issues in the past. When I booked it I stated it’s a Canadian government ID. I asked will that be valid he replied with, yes. Upon check in the gentle me asked me what business I’am on? I said none. He then states this rate can only be applied if your here on business. Hmm. Not sure if your policies have changed but they have never asked me this question. The gentleman over the phone should have stated this when booking the rate. Marriott records all calls so I proceeded to give them a call before I left the property. The gentleman at the front desk didn’t once offer to call Marriott reservation/or he’s guest service supervisor. He did do nothing to accommodate us. After speaking to a Marriott supervisor over the phone she proceeded to put me on hold to call the gentleman at the front desk at the property. I watched them have a conversation about canceling the reservation since he wasn’t going to offer this rate. Having just got off a long flight checking in late at 12:45 am this is the last thing I wanted to deal with. Worst costumer service I have every received at a Marriott property.

Stayed here for opening day! Really nice hotel. Has a great view. You can hop on the people mover from this hotel which makes it convenient to get places. I would stay here again. Had a bar and was within walking distance from tons of places. Could park the car for our stay.

I was in town for a convention this hotel is in a great location. It also has access to the People Mover that stops at the Convention Center. The staff (Todd) could not of been nicer. My room was ready when I arrived early. This hotel offers two on site restaurants IHOP and Appleby's. There are several restaurants that are walkable. The room was king size with a great city view had a large sofa very comfortable. The offer a convenience store and a concierge on site. This hotel is right on the water you can see Windsor, Canada from your room. The area the hotel is in is very safe you can walk to the GM building. They need to use 2 ply toilet tissue, the bath tub was dripping, the hallways are not real quiet. All in all a great visit. This hotel will be undergoing a full renovation soon.

The staff was amazing and so helpful. Asked us why we were in town and had a signed card and bottle of wine to celebrate anniversary by the time we got up to our room! Applebees and IHOP located in the hotel which was very convenient.

The Detroit Marriott Ren Center is in a great location and the hotel is very comfortable. Pauline , the supervisor at the front desk was absolutely delightful. She was warm, kind, professional and extremely helpful. On the other hand, when I approached the front desk (upon check in) to ask a few questions, she asked me if I was with a specific group and told me to go where the rest of the group was to get my questions answered. She was short, unprofessional and less than helpful.
