This small and quite osteria reflects the beautiful village where is located. The tasteful menù includes typical dishes from Piemonte tradition. Finally a good and cheap lunch in a peaceful atmosphere.
We were driving around drinking wine all day and wanted to get some food in us. This was a great little spot for lunch. We had a meat and cheese board and some pasta. Nice views, but the windows were a little high to see out.
Eravamo indecisi su cosa scegliere come antipasto e la proprietaria ci ha suggerito di sceglierli man mano... abbiamo quindi cenato ad antipasti e dolci.... antipasti di ottima qualità, una composta superba...
It took us a while on our walk through Diano d'Alba to locate an open restaurant, but then we found the Unione Agricola right behind the church on the hill: Colorfully painted inside with the warm hues of orange and yellow, offering a view to the vineyards and hazelnut groves below, which form the essence of this part of Piemonte. One table was occupied by a group of 5 local workers enjoying their meals with gusto amid loud, happy conversation, while 2 manager types were lingering over their glasses of wine. It was quite warm in the place, but the owner opened the windows looking out into the countryside and the door to the front and a pleasant nice breeze enveloped us all. We had a vitello tonnato and an insalata con frittata, each for EU6 plus 2 glasses of the local vino bianco Arneis and later 2 caffe macchiato. Simple, good food, nice ambience with local flair, friendly service by the lady of the house an enjoyable and relaxing lunch hour! We liked it so much that we picked up 2 bottles of their red Diano d'Alba wine to remember this place.
