This is a large fruit stand that markets much more than they should. They offer fresh and dried fruit, nuts, honey, cute items and many concoctions and combinations of food with a multitude of seasonings and coatings (such as yogurt, coconut, chocolate) for spicy, sweet, salty tastes. There is a HUGE problem with food quality and item 's are pricey as well. The first time I went I bought various expensive things. The checker asked if I wanted the receipt. I should have taken it. It was a Mother 's Day gift and was awful, inedible and embarrassing. The fruit is subpar. You 're not supposed to taste the fruit before you buy, so I asked the seller if the cherries were sweet. He shrugged and said I don 't know . I bought them anyway and they were tasteless, not sweet and the texture of some other fruits I bought were odd. The bagged nuts looked great, but they were extremely rancid (smell taste). They don 't have a sell-by date so they might be on that shelf for years until they get sold. Two stars for ambiance, ample parking and polite staff.
Not quite a fruit stand, although they do sell fruit. They sell more nuts than anything. Pistachios to be specific. In every flavor imaginable. Even tequila flavor. Yes, tequila. There are also lots of jams, jellies, preserves, fruit butters, a variety of dried fruit, and a small offering of bulk candy. They also offer exotic and game meat jerky.I came for the homemade pistachio ice cream which did NOT disappoint. They offer single serve cups as well as pints (or was it quarts? . Good thing too because I LOVE pistachio ice cream and would have happily eaten an entire pint (possible quart if I absolutely had to I also bought a bag of salt and lemon pistachios for myself and some alligator jerky for my best friend. The pistachios were good, but unfortunately the flavor stays mainly on the shell because many of the pistachios have such narrow openings that it's hard for the flavor to get through. Nevertheless, they were still delicious.
If you want fresh produce, go to Pedrick Produce in the next exit. This isn't a honest vendor. If you want bulk goods shop here but be careful on prices. The dishonesty makes me question whether the quality is there. I stopped buying anything from this vendor moving forward after interactions w/ the owner. There is a couple order of magnitude differences in volume between this vendor and Pedrick Produce. If there isn't volume there aren't good prices and freshness. Every answer to questions are evasive and follow the standard template if you buy now the price will be higher later or.. we have the best prices. Once you visit Pedrick you know this vendor is dishonest.
Good Tamales! (Note: Closed on Tuesdays We stopped here last week for the first time, after we missed the Pedrick Produce exit.Location: going eastbound on I-80 it 's in the right side, you 'll see the multiple handmade signs on the roadside that advertise their goods. It 's an actual building, not just a shack. Tamales: 3-pack for $9.65. You can buy them hot(need to wait 10 mins while they heat them in the back room , or cold to warm up at home. They come wrapped and in a plastic container.Pork, chicken, or chili cheese(? , we got chicken and they don 't skimp on the filling. These are better than Pedrick 's but you do have to wait a short while to have them warmed. I 'd come here again for the tamales.Nuts: wide variety but not as many as Pedrick 's. Everything I saw was $9.99 a bag. Milk chocolate peanuts were good! But they don 't have mixed nuts so I bought my neighbors trail mix and a chocolate ball fruit mix.Wild game: Also got some alligator jerky sticks, they advertise wild game, there 's a display stand in the left rear of the store w prepackaged jerky and meat sticks (alligator, wild boar, turkey, beef, etc. .There 's a sign advertising pistachio ice cream and one couple was eating some outside, but it was too cold for me, maybe next time.Service: OK. They sell t-shirts behind the counter that read Fauci lied, Millions died! I 'll leave it to you to decide on this.Restroom: one dirty room accessible from outside on the rear right wall. Heavy duty deadbolt but it 's kept unlocked. I thought of prison cell when I saw it.No seat covers and no soap!!!Come for the tamales, maybe for the nuts.Parking: limited, in front of the store, maybe 8(? spots.
