Thai Express is one of my favourite cheap 'n cheerfuls and after finishing a job in the west island I spotted one as I was heading down St-Jean Boulevard.
It was goodPortions are of a decent size tooThe 6oz burger is a bit big and can get quite soggy with the sauce that they add to it.
The O'Burger is gone. It has been replaced by Villa Madina, a shawarma place. I ordered a green curry chicken for $9.38 plus tax for takeout. While driving with the windows open, I got to the aubergine's (eggplant) and something hit me as very wrong. It tasted off, very off. I did not eat another eggpIant. In the mean time, I went to a store for a 10 minute errand, leaving the cardboard box in the car. When I returned, the smell in the car was of old sweaty socks, it almost made me sick. I then realized that this was not a slight error, there was something extremely wrong with this dish. I decided to return to the restaurant and let them know, wondering how many other people they have served this rotten food to. It was obvious the eggplant in the dish was spoiled and rotten. Fortunately, I had only eaten one and took a picture of the others just before I went back into the store. This is where it went from bad to worse! The man behind the counter offered me to have a free dish twice, but I refused saying I do not want their food, I would like a refund. He assured me that all of the old eggplants were gone. I wondered to who else! The server smelled the box, agreed that it was spoiled and threw it out. No apology was forthcoming. Because I asked for a refund, he had to consult with his manager. The manager told the server to make me another dish. I had to remind the manager that he just served me spoiled food and that I did not want their food, I wanted a refund! No problem he says. The refund came to a total of $10.79. The manager gave me $0.75 and realized he did not have any nickels, so asked me to give him back a quarter so that he could give me 3 dimes. In other words, he was not prepared to give me $0.05 extra for my troubles!!! I was shocked, not because I needed the 5 cents but because this manager had served me spoiled food and I felt I deserved much more than a basic refund!I told the manager that if I get sick, he will hear from me again.I put the cash in my wallet and waited, but when the manager never apologised, I reminded him that he should apologise to clients that he serves spoiled food ot. He nodded. I said it again, hoping that he would get the point, but al he did was nod again. He never apologised! And he made sure that my refund was not $0.05 more than it needed to be!Hugely disappointed. Thai Express, I will never spend my money at any of your franchises again.
My wife and I ordered a Pad Sew and Green Curry. Both tasted like they had been in the bottom of a freezer for months. We asked the manager for a refund and we told that this was "my" problem. Will never visit another Thai Express again.
