It is a stunning summer evening venue where you can sit outside in a beautifully lit, comfortable and intimate setting with a large scale authentic Italian country ambiance. Most of the items are hand made and the staff is friendly and great with kids. The food is fantastic and offers great value for money. Overall, it is a fantastic dining experience.
We stopped by for a late lunch on a wintery Saturday. It was pretty quiet with one big family group and a lovely older couple plus our family of five. Atmosphere is amiable, slightly dated and genuine Italian. Service was really friendly and attentive. We stuck to pizzas and salad. Pizzas were hot, authentic and delicious. Salad was good. Everything came quite quickly. Ten thumbs up from us. <br/ <br/ I read the reviews beforehand so I knew we were definitely in for the worst, or best, dining experience of our lives. Intriguing! Perhaps it's better when it's quieter. Or better to stick to pizzas. I don't know. We thought it was really good and well worth a diversion on a long drive from Sydney to Ocean Grove. <br/ <br/ Place 3+, ambience 3, pizzas 4+, service 4+. That's a 4.
Amazing food, amazing servive and nice atmosphere. The coffee is great too! The addition of the cheese shop is also a nice touch- I would recommend this place and go back again.
Dont listen to the horrible reviews just keyboard warriors with nothing better to do with there life than be negative!I dont usually review resturants etc but i had a great experince here!!!<br/ This place is great, the food is amazing.<br/ <br/ This place is a family run business and the owners and staff/family made us feel very welcome. with the owner even coming over to sit down and have a chat. which is very rare these days!<br/ <br/ Highly recommend will be going back regularly :
Don 't believe anything else you 've read about this place.... Never believe all you read, I say. After reading the reviews on this site, I was reluctant to try this place today. HOWEVER, it 's true what 's said about the majority...there 's simply no pleasing some people, especially the perpetual whingers. Otherwise all I can conclude by some of the negative reviews is that those people are probably habitual Macca 's KFC diners, just don 't know good food. Things do go wrong in restaurants, this can sometimes affect the food service, I 'd be willing to bet that there are more loyal fans of this place than there are knockers. This place is nice...not fine dining, but still nice. We had lunch here today although it was very quiet, possibly only a dozen diners, the service was very good. Our waitress was delightful, considering she 's only been working here about a week. The food was also very nice, in fact the pan-tossed olives were excellent. They were a perfect little something-to-pick-at-without-ruining-your-appetite, while we waited for a late-comer to our party. They had the perfect amount of chilli, that made them really moreish. We also had a cheesy garlic pizza thingy, which I normally don 't eat because most places pile on so much garlic it burns your taste buds making it unpalatable. But, this one looked so nice I just had to have some, it was perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of garlic that gorgeous chees. For mains, 2 of us had the fettuccine with scampi crab, as a foodie, I can honestly say it was very nice. The ONLY criticism I have is that we had to ASK for a claw cracker they only had the one, but it was no big deal...after all we weren 't in a million-dollar plate seafood restaurant. However, a small bowl of water to wash our fingers after picking our crabmeat would also have been appropriate (although I really didn 't mind licking my fingers clean). Then one of us, had a pizza (that seriously looked good that was confirmed by the recipient), the other had what looked like a perfectly cooked piece of salmon (again, confirmed by the diner). To finish, 3 of us had the panna cotta, (which I personally don 't like from anywhere), they loved it. I did try a little because I was told it was served with the mascarpone from the cheese factory on-site, again the only criticism I have is that is was supposed to be served with a raspberry coulis, but instead came out with strawberry. It was still nice, but we should 've been advised, simply as a courtesy. The thing that impressed me most is that the place was spotlessly clean, especially the toilets; now I 've eaten at a lot of so-called fine dining, or 'on-trend ' places that could honestly learn something about cleanliness from these lovely people. So all in all, it was a very nice meal, in a really pleasant setting, with a nice waitress some very sweet hospitable owners, who showed us immeasurable patience, (we had a 4.5hour lunch); you couldn 't ask for anything more.
