He switched our reservation from a table to the bar where we proceeded to have a wonderful evening. The food was amazing as was the wine. Kudos to the manager who recommended wines. On a scale from 1-10 I rate it a 15! Absolutely excellent. Chris you are an amazing bartender. Thank you!!
The Dorset Inn is the perfect place to dine before or after a show at the Dorset Theatre Festival. From gathering outside on the lawn for drinks prior to being seated for dinner, to the desert course of raspberry lemon creme brulée, the service and food was outstanding.
Been coming to the DI for 25 years and this is the best the food has been.. well designed menu and they executed flawlessly. The Parker House-style rolls were worth a visit on their own. Some of the best bread service our group has experienced and we had a Frenchman with us. High praise indeed. Unfortunately, the prices have really skyrocketed. What used to be a great casual, tavern-style dining experience has turned into a fine dining experience with NYC prices. Hope they can sustain it.
I so wanted to give this long time family favorite restaurant an exceptional review but because of the poor performance of the chef, I simply was unable. The dining room of the restaurant at the Dorset Inn has a warm, charming ambiance although it was noisier than I remember from previous visits. Our waitress was lovely and attentive. I ordered the duck. It was dry on the inside with a fatty skin on the exterior barely pan seared as indicated on the menu. Adding to the dryness was the lack of sauce and therefore flavor. My husband ordered the turkey croquettes at our waitresses recommendation. He felt he could hardly recognize any turkey in them and the flavor was a non event. Our salads however were good. With so many terrific area restaurants, we're sorry to say we won't go racing back here any time soon.
Charming in and restaurant with several venues to dine at. We had past hors d'oeuvres and wine first for our group and others and the selection was presented well. Several dips including Trout and cheese platter were fine. Some at our table had the lobster roll, which was very good others had crabcake and the pasta dish or nice present. We would definitely die here again.
