Feedback gevenThe owner of the restaurant was not very friendly and insisted on charging us 50p for each bottle of water. This was on top of the £4.80 we had already spent on two other drinks and a snack. I only had 98p in loose change, which wasn't enough, so I had to break into a £5 note. I also remembered that they charge extra for card payments in the past. While I can understand the card surcharges, having to pay for tap water on the North Downs way felt unwelcoming and unfair. Unfortunately, there isn't much competition in the area, so on a hot day, there aren't many other options.
I received an unfriendly welcome when I was told that my muddy boots were not welcome, so I took them off. Despite the nice interior, I was informed that they did not serve any food. The staff appeared annoyed when I didn't have the right change, and when I was searching for the restroom, they did not offer any help. However, the selection of crisps was very good. I do not plan on returning to this restaurant.
The owner of this restaurant is wonderful. She may seem strict, but she has a great sense of humor. She is excellent with both dogs and children. While they do not serve food here, it is recommended to go to the best place nearby. The bartender is very friendly and the regular customers are welcoming. We enjoy coming here so much that we are willing to drive 15 minutes to get here. We have recommended this place to our family and they also love it. Come with a positive attitude and you will receive a warm welcome.
Unwelcoming, not a happy atmosphere, no food available, not even a basic ploughmans lunch. The landlady seemed not to care either way whether or not we all stayed or left! Very odd for such a lovely pub.
I first visited this pub in 2011 and returned in 2016 on a recent visit to the pretty village of Shepherdswell to find a new licensee has taken over. It used to be a wonderful pub. However sadly not anymore. Whilst being served on a busy village event which was raking in a good days taking, the Landlady was rude to a couple of hikers passing through who just asked for water. I returned two months later. No tables free and one had a load of children's toys on the table with no one sitting there and children running amok was not suitable. I won't be returning and instead have found more hospitable and cleaner pubs nearby. Such a shame.
