As soon as we finished our shopping in town we realized, none of us was keen on cooking our own lunch. That´s why we´ve been dropping into La Villetta at this sunny day in May. We ordered Fuilli Aubergine and Paccheri Nduja plus soft drinks....More
The restaurant is located in a residential part of Dresden (Striesen), with many beautiful late 19th- and early-20th-century houses and villas in the area. It's popular with the locals and best to reserve a table -- definitely outside in the summer and remember that the patio closes at 22:00. The cheese (with olives and walnuts) appetizer plate was generous and nicely varied, the bruschetta with arugula very fresh, and the menu sufficiently varied. The penne and chorizo special ran out quickly, the bresaola and pasta was nicely balanced, and servings are ample for a main course. The panna cotta was deliciously sprinkled with a combination of powdered dark chocolate and coffee, and the espresso is the best I've had in the years I've spent in Dresden. Wine by the glass offers some variety, nothing that will have you waxing poetic, but reasonably priced. A wonderful place to spend an evening, but be sure to reserve and be ready to leave when the patio closes.
Four of us went here on a Friday night. Booking essential at busy times as it is a popular place with locals. Good daily specials board as well as main menu to choose from. Fish, meat and veggie catered for. Open kitchen so you can see what's happening. Starters/antipasti on view in refrigerated counter like in a deli. Good choice of wine. Promt, friendly and attentive service. Bistro furniture: wood etc but very comfortable. (Baby high chairs for lunch.) Great food. Great wine.Around £100 for four with shared anti-pasti (fish, veggie, meat) with bread and dipping oil/balsamic followed by thoroughly enjoyable, and well portioned mains and 2 litres of wine as well as two bottles of water. Would have been an excellent 5 star but for the parking so only 4 as I'm very stingy. Would recommend as far as food and service is concerned. But a taxi fare there and back would bump up the cost if it's raining. However if you want to avail yourself of the excellent red wine and you don't want to walk then the wine is worth the taxi fare....
Wonderful products. The olive oil is particularly recommended. It tastes the aroma of this wonderful country with its friendly people.
