Food was something a little different. Well cooked and presented. Charming Irish service. Lively atmosphere. A little pricey but hey it’s in Temple Bar.
Very small cozy eatery. Friendly attentive waitstaff. Food really good and reasonable. We had leek soup with soda bread. Perfect!
After seeing the Boxty House on an episode of Somebody Feed Phil , we added it to our list of things to do when we visited Ireland.....which we are now doing. After visiting the Guinness Storehouse, we walked back through the Temple Bar area and found Boxty. Even though we didn 't have a reservation, we were able to easily get in for lunch on a Saturday. It 's not a big place, but does appear to be popular. My wife had the fish n chips, and I had the Gaelic boxty. She liked hers, and I thought the boxty (having never had one before) was very good. We went to a steakhouse the night before, where I had a Tomahawk steak. I actually thought the steak medallions on the Gaelic boxty were better than the tomahawk! It is very pricey, especially for lunch in our case. But it was worth the experience.
Yum, we were all impressed by our taste of Irish traditional food. I liked the way it was adapted to a modern dining expectation and palate. Well done. No one had any trouble finding something on the menu that suited and all were happy with their choice. Desserts are a generous serving and a delicious finish to the meal. Would I eat there again? You bet.
