Duffield Fish Chips

Now I love fish and chips and this place is amazing fantastic service. Such a lovely clean shop after speaking the new manager in the shop who is passionate and friendly about his job and his team I opted for the large cod and chips it was all cooked fresh it was crispy light and pure white cod and the chips were amazing fluffy and crispy. The staff were helpfull and polite and would definatly recommend this shop to anyone. Came here today as im on holiday for a week in derby...half hour before closing to be told they've turned cooking apparatus off and cannot fulfil my order for chips and battered sausage(specifically the battered sausage and told me they can only do chips). Absolutely ridiculous of course, I didn't get my chips...I will be ordering from elsewhere. No where on the store front or online says they turn cooking apparatus off in a store thats made to serve food! Should be well known and advertised on front of store and on website. I'm shocked this place has 4.5 stars as they can't even serve basic food half hour before close on a FRIDAY night...not that it matters if its a Monday night as its supposed to stop serving when it closes not before! Called today on the off chance . What a beautiful box of fish chips . I waited 5mins for a fresh piece of fish to be cooked to order , it was worth the wait . The chips were light and fluffy . I used to highly rate this chip shop I've even previously left a 5 star review not sure what happened from then till now? I had fish chips and peas from there a few weeks ago and it was awful! The chips were stuck together and mushy the whole lot went in the bin an absolute waste of money and I don't like to waste food!! I thought it may have been due to ordering early as if they had been left in cold fat? Decided to give it another go this evening, I turned up at 20:20 and it was closed, this has to be the worst chip shop!.. closed at 20:20 on a Saturday night? Food: 1
