What The Pho - Duluth

This restaurant offers some unique food options. I went in hoping to try the famous Pho Korean soup, but unfortunately, all of them contain beef, and I don’t eat meat. Thankfully, their extensive menu had some other appealing choices, and I ended up enjoying a delicious coconut smoothie! However, the atmosphere could definitely use some improvement. Overall, I think this place has potential, but since I wasn’t able to taste their Pho soup, I’ll leave that assessment to the experts. I recommend giving it a try!

The restaurant has a clean atmosphere, and it wasn't too crowded on a Thursday night. Our party of three ordered spring rolls, two bowls of pho, a rice dish, and a vermicelli bowl. The flavors of the food were enjoyable, but we felt that there was an excess of noodles and not enough meat in each dish. However, considering that every entree was priced at no more than $10.95, this is somewhat understandable. I deducted a star because the abundance of noodles overshadowed the textures of the other ingredients, such as the spring rolls.

This was easily the worst broth I've ever experienced. This wasn't my first time trying pho, so my expectations were quite high after reading some positive reviews while in the area. Unfortunately, the broth was extremely weak—lacking any rich flavor or umami, and I even detected a strange, spoiled meat aftertaste. There were absolutely no aromatic elements like star anise, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, ginger, onion, or coriander. The rare beef was brown rather than the vibrant red I expected. Not even the addition of sriracha or hoisin could improve the taste. On a positive note, the staff was friendly and the service was quick. The tendon was enjoyable, and the meatballs had the right texture, though they also lacked flavor. The vegetables were fresh, and the noodles were good. We ordered a large B1 DAC BIET, a large B6TAI GAN, and one bowl of meatballs.
