Steve and Mary took care of us like family, providing us with rides to and from Hoddom Bridge while we were hiking the Annandale Way. They even packed us a delicious lunch to take with us. I highly recommend this place to everyone, especially for hikers.
The rooms were nice. I was disappointed that there was limited availability of red wine, but the food was wholesome, fresh, and delicious. Breakfast was excellent.
I found this family-run hotel to be not only beautiful and historic, but also incredibly welcoming and accommodating. The location is lovely, and the people are friendly and helpful. I will definitely be returning in the future.
Booked a room for when we reached nearby as an overnight stop on our way to Loch Awe. Our room, number 6, was superb, very large, a super-king bed with really comfortable mattress. En-suite bathroom, plenty of hot water. Scrumptious evening meal and breakfast. We took our dog and she was made welcome by the excellent host and staff. There is a large area of grass at the rear of the hotel for dogs, and good parking. Twelve days later we rang on our journey back to see if they had a room on the off chance and they offered us number 6 again which was absolutely perfect. Marks out of ten? Eleven! Thank you so much for a marvellous Scottish welcome.
We stayed here overnight on our way up to the highlands and what a very pleasant surprise it was. The hotel is just off the motorway but it is so peaceful. We was greeted by the son of the owner who was very polite and friendly. The rooms have been recently refurbished and are decorated very tastefully with tea making facility and there is also a tv. We ordered breakfast the following morning which was freshly cooked to perfection. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have booked to stay again during our next trip up to the highlands.
