New Oriental - Dumfries Galloway

This restaurant offers fantastic takeout options with delicious flavors and generous portion sizes. We were able to feed six people with plenty of extras for a very reasonable price, including delivery, for less than £90. It's definitely great value for money and comes highly recommended.

We frequently visit the area and were excited for a delicious takeaway after our journey. Unfortunately, this time was a huge disappointment compared to our previous positive experience. The starters of oily salt and pepper chicken wings and sparse spring rolls were underwhelming. The Chicken Kung Po main dish was lacking, and the Beef Pepper and Black Bean dish had tough meat. Although the front of house service was pleasant, we can only give a very generous 2 stars due to the terrible food. We will not be coming back.

Very plain and tasteless. I ordered a dish with black bean sauce, but it was just Bisto gravy with a few black beans added. The dish was lacking in seasoning and the vegetables were overcooked. If this place is considered the best in town, then the residents need to go try some authentic Mexican cuisine to improve their palate.

It's ok. Most of the Chinese restaurants in Dumfries are pretty poor, but can be very hit or miss. This one is ok, never great, never poor, but ok.

Got a takeaway from New Oriental tonight because my regular place is closed on a Tuesday. First, the order for 4 was to be collected but they misunderstood and delivered it while my daughter was on her way to collect it. We ordered 3 King Prawn dishes and a Special fried Rice. We got 2 King Prawn dishes and an unidentified chicken dish. I did say to my daughter she was probably lucky she did not get the King Prawns as mine were dry/chewy and practically inedible. Unfortunately the chicken dish was no better as the sauce was apparently as disgusting as it looked. As for the Special fried rice, it was no better and seemed to be coated in some kind of tar rather than a sauce. Will not be back!
