Our recent visit was very disappointing to say the least. Our food was served 5 minutes after we arrived. It became apparent when I tasted my crispy beef dish which was anything but crispy, more rubbery and chewy that a microwave was used to reheat the food. Also the quality of the food is not as used to be. We were all very disappointed. On a separate note the staff bar one local young woman didn't want to engage, were aloof and wouldn't make eye contact when we tried to get their attention. One thing that hasn't changed is the prices. €104 for 3 main microwaved courses and drinks. We will definitely not be back.
Myself, husband and three kids live an hour and a half away from this restaurant, it was highly recommended but we were HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. As we entered there were no welcoming faces and we were told to leave the pram in the waiting area. The baby was sleeping so I refused and pushed the pram on in. Now it’s a doona so it’s so tiny and compact, takes up the same space as a car seat. Anyway still no smiles or welcoming vibes. Instantly I thought we are not wanted here. Food was ordered, it came, it was ok. Then they came to clear it away they waitress spilled one of our drinks. Didn’t apologise, try to clean it, offer another, nothing… didn’t offer dessert just left us sitting. So we get packed up to leave and pay the bill and as wee approach the desk we are ushered in to the waiting area as we were in the way of all the take away orders which is right at the desk at the exit for paying. So manager or whatever he is points at my husband to come pay, no thanks no goodbye nothing. An absolute disgusting attitude to paying customers, I will never ever go back and spend money with such an undeserving establishment. It costs nothing to have manners.
Tonight and each time we go to the Jade garden for a meal we are well looked after by staff. Especially one member in particular called MARY who goes above and beyond her jobe role to ensure our time in this Restaurant is an enjoyable and relaxing time. We thoroughly enjoy a little chat with her which makes us want to go back to the restaurant again.. staff taking time to chat with their customers makes your meal all the more enjoyable and with Mary we always get the best service every time we are there.
My family went to the Jade Garden last night based on a recommendation we received from a friend. We are staying in the Nuremore Hotel in Carricmacross so Dundalk was only 20 minutes away. I have to say we had an excellent meal, the food was was absolutely gorgeous, well presented, generous portions and the service was brilliant. We had a server called Mary who had a lovely manner, was very chatty and she made the experience even better. Even though we don't live in Dundalk I would return to the Jade Garden if I am in Dundalk again. A brilliant experience.
Used to eat in the Jade Garden years ago as a place to go for a great night out! But unfortunately after tonight the Jade Garden has made it to my, won’t be going back list. The premises has become dated , tired … aged, definitely needs a major face lift, Staff are attentive but in fairness it’d be hard not to be as there was only 2 tables in the whole dining room being served …. The place was dead with zero atmosphere Drinks: This is where the wheels started to fall off the wagon. I used to work in the drinks industry and years ago split soft drinks coke, orange, 7up, were sold in c.280ml bottles half pint then coke launched 200ml bottles intended as mixers and NOT splits The hospitality industry jumped all over these and have now standardised a serving of Coke as 200ml …. As has the Jade Garden….for €3.50 each! Sorry guys … this is just out n out ROBBERY!!! If your going to charge €3.50 for a soft drink, at the very least serve a 330ml can. Starters: small portions with the soups excessively expensive chicken wrap €10 Not very satisfied with the price point on the starters Main Course: Again massively overpriced for what it is. Food was at best average, not very imaginatively presented, there’s dozens of takeaways in the area that deliver food of the same standard and better at a fraction of the cost! If I’m paying premium prices for eating out…. I fully expect a premium experience! Pretty rubbish selection of non alcoholic drinks, only Heineken zero. Having dropped €180 here this evening for two courses for a family of 4, I feel I got very poor value, with a poor eating out experience We won’t be back!
