Stumbled upon this cute establishment by accident. Cozy and quaint. Food was great and the service was lovely.
We had lunch at the restaurant. The Oika is cozy, homely and warm design, the fireplace was burning and it was very pleasant to sit there when it was cold and rainy outside. The food was delicious, the service friendly and not obtrusive. Possibly the best meal we had in Scotland. Service: 5 Location: 4
As soon as we entered the cafe we were greeted with bad customer service. The young boy working didn 't seem happy to see us as customers and joked by saying, 'everyone get out ', he then proceeded to serve an old lady (hard of hearing) at the till and ended up shouting at her for her table number. Shortly after, he goes to that ladies table and she asks what the soup of the day is, he says tomato, walks away saying, 'like I 've said 4 times before '. We didn 't like the way he was speaking to people, so we got up and left and went down the road to Mistys who showed polite and friendly customer service.
I really enjoyed the meal. The food menu is small but satisfying. We ordered lentil soup which was great, panko-fried dreamy and scampi (shrimp) which came with side dishes. Homemade food at its best! And a great atmosphere in front of the burning fireplace, on a cold September day. Recommended stop!
