The Old Schoolhouse Cafe - Durango

We visited this restaurant on Sunday after skiing at Purgatory, and overall, we had a great time. While some of us enjoyed watching the football game, the rest played pool and shuffleboard. The pizza and ranch dressing were both delicious, and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. I tried the High Noon black cherry seltzers, but unfortunately, it's the only brand they offer, and I didn't care for it.

We ordered takeout and it was ready quickly! The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Purgatory.

However, when we arrived to pick up the pizza, we were informed of the total price, which included a 20% gratuity fee. I was taken aback and questioned why I was being charged gratuity for picking up my own order. I explained that customers should be informed of such fees when placing an order so they can decide whether to accept it. It’s not fair for the restaurant to make that decision on our behalf. It’s unfortunate, as we have been loyal customers for 30 years, and this experience left us with a bad impression. The pizza is excellent, don't get me wrong, but it seems that because their dining turnover has slowed, they are trying to recoup losses by charging a gratuity on takeout orders. We will return once they revise this policy.

Just minutes from Purgatory Resort. Opens at 4 and if you don't get your pizza order in between 4 and 5, your pizza might not be ready until 8:30pm. People love this place. Bartenders/employees super friendly and judging by the same faces 2 days in a row, the regulars love this place. Pizza was really good. Wings were alright.

Sadly the food at this place has gone downhill it was always known for its fabulous pizza! We ordered TWICE during our Christmas vacation and BOTH times the pizza was literally inedible: Dry chewy flavorless. Bad. Maybe they had a temporary holiday pizza maker but whatever the case we won't be going back for awhile, ugh.
