Ping Pong Cafe - Durham

Food is average and is relatively fresh. Don't go there if your expecting the staff to have a personality or be engaging at all . The dinning room is spacious with several tables. Overall good place to grab a quick lunch and go. Nothing to write home about or anything.

Real talk when I first moved to the area years ago I ordered takeout from this place and thought the name was funny. The food is nothing to joke about! It's, in my opinion, the BEST Chinese food in the area. The food is always fresh, the portions are big, and the flavor is always on point. The chicken and broccoli is my favorite and it just tastes unlike any other. Highly recommend!!

I tend to forget about Ping Pong since I'm not out and about in that area around lunch time. Lately we've been striking out with even our normal go to for Chinese so we thought we'd try this for dinner. I called in a take out order for pork egg foo young and fried dumplings. My spouse went to pick it up and upon arrival she said it was almost completely dark inside and she wasn't sure if they were even open. It was so dark that she could barely see to make her way around or see the menu that was posted up behind the counter. Kinda strange. Anyway, the order of pork egg foo young is three patties with rice and gravy for the patties. We've been searching all over the Triangle for good egg foo young (Charlie's Chinese in Chapel Hill, long gone years ago, is our measuring stick) and decided last night that Ping Pong is the best thus far! Still does not compare to Charlie's, but still Yay! I wasn't as crazy about the fried dumplings. They're wrapped like a steamed bun so as soon as you take a bite the whole wrapper starts falling off. Plus they looked kind of greasy. I know, fried, but still. Flavor wise they were ok, but I've had better. I think next time I'll try the crab rangoon instead. So, next time we have a craving for egg foo young, this will be our go to!

Ordered for my hubby. He enjoyed it. Our son ate the leftovers. Real clean establishment and good customer service.
