Small portions. Bowls of extra veg and potatoes for the table would have been good. Usual Sunday lunch better value
Booked for Sunday lunch, had 16hr slow cooked silver roast beef blade with a great selection of vegetables and home cooked Yorkshires, with exceptional home made horseradish . Great table service and a good selection of wines and unusual ales
This restaurant is a hidden gem and we are thrilled to have discovered it. The food is top-notch and worth every penny. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The chef deserves a special mention for the amazing burger we had. This place definitely deserves more than 5 stars. The 2 dishes for £22 deal is a steal and well worth the price. We will definitely be returning soon.
Our experience at the Anchor restaurant was enhanced by the welcoming and professional staff, as well as the charming atmosphere. However, we found the menu options to be limited, with few main courses and desserts available. Only one special starter and main dish were offered during our visit. Two of us decided to try the Thai main course based on positive reviews, but were disappointed to find that it lacked authentic Thai flavors. The pork was bland and lacked the expected hints of lemon and coriander, though it was tender. The accompanying cold dishes, including aubergine and pickle, did not complement the hot food well. The desserts were satisfactory, with the fresh fruit being a highlight and the treacle tart falling short. Overall, our experience did not meet the high expectations set by other reviews we had read prior to our visit.
