The Grill At Copper Hill - East Granby

The restaurant offers typical grill options suitable for a golf course. There's a nice variety on the menu, ensuring there's something for everyone. They also have a good selection of beers. The facilities are clean, though they could use some updating.

The location is fantastic with outdoor seating, but unfortunately, the service is consistently poor. We’ve returned not once, but twice, and each time we were informed, “Sorry, it’s going to be an hour wait for food.” On one occasion, we waited over an hour only to be told that “the kitchen is delayed.” During our most recent visit, we ended up leaving without our dinner because when it finally arrived—over an hour later—it was the wrong order!

The food is excellent, and the service is outstanding, particularly from Robin at the bar. The atmosphere is wonderful as well. My only suggestion would be to serve the draft beer a bit colder.

I was surprised by the high ratings this restaurant has received. Perhaps we visited at a bad time when they were short-staffed in the kitchen, and a caddie was helping out. One person in our group ordered the fish tacos, and to our shock, they were served with a single fish stick—one of those triangular ones that are baked. It was just placed on top in its entirety, which was quite unappetizing. I should have sent it back and ended up eating part of my own meal instead. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. What were they thinking?

If you’re looking for fancy cocktails, this may not be the place for you. While many golf courses are familiar with a Transfusion (vodka, ginger ale, grape juice, and fresh lime), that wasn’t on offer here. Instead, we substituted cranberry juice, and everyone left happy. The building has been beautifully remodeled, and once COVID is behind us, I can see this becoming a solid neighborhood bar. The patio is enjoyable too and may draw a slightly broader crowd thanks to the oldies music. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and plan to return before the cold weather sets in.
