The Townhouse Fish - East Lothian

They are advertising 20% off your first order on their website AND this Facebook page. I placed an order to take advantage of this great offer and then realised I'd only been given 5% off, so I called the restaurant and politely queried this to be told that the offer is wrong and hasn't been updated. Working in retail myself, when an incorrect offer is displayed it should be honoured as it is no fault of the customers. I asked if they were going to honour it as they are advertising it to which I was told no and that I am being selfish because they are doing me a favour deriving to my town because they don't have to do that (even though the option is there to deliver to my town and I'm paying £6 delivery) so if this is a problem they shouldn't give the option of delivery here. I was told I should just be grateful for the 5% discount and be thankful they are delivering to my town, and they have no way of honouring it or refunding me the difference and the lady started shouting down the phone to me even though I was speaking in a calm tone the whole time. She then said she could just cancel my order even though I have already paid for it. So if you can't honour me the 15% back you are advertising then how can you cancel and refund me my whole order? Absolutely disgusting customer service and if you think getting worked up and shouting down the phone at your customers is an acceptable way to run a business I am truly shocked. Won't be ordering from here again.

Arrived 45 minutes late. Fish was dry, chips cold. Brown sauce had no flavour. So, so disappointed. Worst chip shop meal we have ever had. We are mid forties in age! I think the only savour was the salad dish we ordered. Only used The Town House Fish Bar because his competitor is on holiday (Dino's). Come back Tino!! We will not use The Town House Fish Bar again! Awful!

Bought a takeaway here last night. Greasy, re-heated fish and sausages. Onion rings too were greasy, had one and couldn’t eat anymore. Chips were limp and greasy. Annoyingly we waited about 15 minutes for our food so we thought it would be nice and fresh. Would never eat here again.

Ordered a carry out the last day before Covid-19 shut down. Chips were cold, and I mean cold. Fish was definately previous days'. Stale batter, dry fish. Won't be buying from here again.

Chippies are Chippies when all said and done. Never-the-less any of these fast food establishments could have queues outside if only they would pay a little attention to quality. It seems of little concern that items have perhaps been ' double cooked ' or left lying for so long to be rendered tired and uninteresting. A quick ching of the till clearly more important than a any desire to build quality and thus the business. After the last fish supper purchase I promised myself not to return.
