Pho Today - East Rutherford

I wanted to get some vietnamesen to dinner and pho today was along the drive to home. I put an order about doordash on a Friday night and the quoted pickup time was correct. I came to the restaurant in time, and the man who works told me he was in a second with me. a male customer goes in after me and the guy goes and helps him first. I was annoying, but whatever someone else helped me with my order. I had the early roll with Vermicelli, who was underwhelming. they use regular spring-roll paper in contrast to tear paper, which is in my opinion easy to remove and the filling was much too embarrassing. they give a huge part of noodles, but they don't give you a bite. my man had the combo reisplatte, which comes with grilled pork, shredded pork, ice quiche, spring roll, garnel paste tofu and omelett. all the things were just meh. the pork was dry, and the garnelen tofu had a stashed sponge texture. the best part was the rice because it absorbs all oil/bottles from all ingredients, which does not say much. maybe her pho is better? I could try this, but only if I'm desperate and have no other options for viet.

The bahm mi sandwiches are great, especially the grilled bark and the brot is fresh (at least midday). and if they are not caffeine sensitive, they should try the Vietnamese coffee, it is really good!

I want to support local businesses, but that was a terrible experience. I was with other pho today and today it was not. came to pick up my order at 8:40 clock and I was sunk by one of the youngs on the backs of the restaurants. a few patrons for dinner, but not too busy. he has an ear to the phone and looks at one of two bags on the table and asks for my name. jay, I said. he gives me one of the bags from the table and just goes back. the bag is bound, but I check the entry to make sure it is my order, and yes, it has my name on it. I come home, that's about 17 minutes away, open the bag and see that I miss my appetizers. I'm pretty sure there was the other bag on the table he didn't give me what my calamari and early roll. I'll call the restaurant for double check. scream.ring call again..ring good. ten minutes after the attempt to call, I drive into the car and drive back there. it's 9:30 now and I see they clean up. I go in and say I miss my appetizers and yup, he points to the other pocket on the table and that's it. no apologies, no confirmation of the error. I'm not looking for a deep apologies, but a fight, just the same experience I got when I first got there. they do not pick up the phone or confirm their customers. 215.
