Best place to chill out with friends. Chocolate dosa and parotta with chicken curry will be good. Outdoor sitting with small lights and Raja Sir’s songs will make the place romantic. Avoid juices here as it will not be good. If you are a ambivert, you must surely try this place.
They got the most different style dosa. Egg dosa and tea at dinesh is just a perfect start. They got dinning open under trees. Price is economic and value for money.
A small eatery in the middle of wilderness.. I could never imagine I would be in for a surprising treat.. We went to this place as it was late in the night (by Auroville standards) and we'll not find any other place open.. We ordered a fried fish, veg biriyani, parotta with curry and chicken curry.. The food was spicy and yum.. <br/ <br/ The place is run by the family of the local villager.. The location is lovely and prices are low.. The seating is basic and some space is under the trees in the open.. Must give it a try if you are around these parts..
This is, hands down, the best place to have dosa and idlis. They have affordable prices and apart from the idli and dosa itself being quite tasty and always freshly made, they do the best chutneys and sambar. Really amazing and delicious chutneys! The chocolate dosa is also my favorite dessert in Auroville, and which I more often than not feel tempted to indulge. The best thing is that everything I have mentioned is vegan and no other restaurant in the region can compare to their quality. For snack, the gobi 65 is on top of my list. They also serve south Indian meals for lunch which are quite complete to get through the day. And to refresh yourself at anytime of the day, their pineapple mint juice is my favorite. For dinner, whenever I feel really hungry and need something more filling than a dosa, I will have their veg fried rice or veg noodles which are always so generously portioned. If you get lucky, they sometimes make a veg curry or chana masala with chapatti which I really love, but would be thrilled if they do them more often. For non-vegan the curry options in that sense are much wider and they often have fresh fish and prawns too. Everything is always fresh-made and they actually don't take much time. All Currys come with chapatti, dosa or rice. The women that work there are amazing and really hard workers. They also have an extended schedule meaning that they usually close around 10pm and work throughout the whole week which is great. It is also well located, in between Auroville's entry and close by the Solar Kitchen round about. The out space is quite spaceous to accommodate big crowds and it is surrounded by nature, but there is also a inside space to have a more private conversation and to protect yourselves during the raining seasons, with proper wooden tables and comfortable chairs. It is roomy yet cozy. Despite being one of the oldest restaurants in and around Auroville, they keep renovating it. Definitely a must to visit! #Recommended Btw, there is also a small shop besides the restaurant where you can get ice-creams, candies, chips, biscuits, cigarettes, sodas and more. It is very convenient because their prices are the same prices as on the villages while everywhere else in Auroville is quite expensive.
