Formerly the Newhaven branch of Harbour of Siam, the restaurant had faced challenges due to the success of their Broughton Street location. However, the owners saw this as an opportunity to try something new, leading to the creation of C-Shack. This seafood and Belgian beer-focused spot offers burgers as well, but given the abundance of burger joints in Edinburgh...
I had dinner at this restaurant on Monday and absolutely adored it. The food was fantastic, everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. The dining room was cozy with only two walls and a central communal table where guests could share with others. In addition to the small menu, there were also some delicious specials, as the menu changes depending on the daily catch. The drink options could have been a bit more diverse, but that's a minor issue. The view of the Newhaven harbor at sunset was especially stunning and I can't wait to return soon!
Excellent service and fantastic fresh seafood. this cozy little harbour-side restaurant serves delicious fresh fish and Belgian beers. a perfect place to go with friends for a ride or a romantic dinner. the service was attentive and eating was very good. Previous reviews about the cost to comment, it is not cheap, but it is not the most expensive, either sure that it is for me, as I cannot mistake any of the 3 courses we had.
This is one of my best discovery of this year. I used to go into Lock Fyne (right in front of this little restaurant) and one day when it was full, we decided to give it a try with few friends of mine... and what a try The restaurant is really welcoming and look like a small sea house, the owner is very friendly and the food is great. We had mussels as a starter which I cannot recommend enough, we even asked spoons to finish off the sauce! We then took the fish and chips, snapper and seafood tagliatelle and everything was bang on To complete this perfect picture, you will have a fairly wide choice of Belgium beers.
Had dinner here earlier this week and loved it. it was fantastic, everything was fresh and perfectly cooked the restaurant was smaller than I had introduced with a central community table, where you could share the table with another and sit on two walls. there were some great specials in addition to the menu, although the drink selection might have been a bit more varied, the harbour of newhaven is particularly stunning at sunset and I am glad to come back soon!
