St Johns Curry Club

Ordered takeaway for 2 and was told it would be here in around an hour. Nearly 2 hours after ordering, now phoned restaurant to be told it'll be another 10 minutes. Still waiting...... shocking service

We had been staying at the toby a few 100 yards up the road looking in the window we had been beckoned in on the basis 'if you don 't like it you needn 't pay ' my sort of deal. However the guvnor knew he was on a winner the food was superb and the service good.

I had the typical starter of veg pakora. Since the eighties most places add a tiny sorry for itself salad. Yep, same here. Pakora was fine. Not great but not bad either. I followed it with a lamb madras. I like spicy curries and this was just right. Not too hot and not too mild. Just about right. I accompanied with mushroom pilau. Again, nothing wrong with it, just nothing that was wow . Nonetheless I 'd come back. Cheap cobra lager on tap too.

Often visit alone when away with work. Always order Bengali Green Herb Chicken, with extra chilli. Cannot get this dish anywhere else, delicious and hot enough not be too hot. Naan bread good too Service was quick, ordered straight away, ate in restaurant and was there less than 20 minutes.

Love love love this place. We only started coming here recently but its a firm favourite of mine now! I cant see past the tandoori half chicken....and the onion bhaji was superb too! Thanks!
