After I had moved to Edinburgh last month, I visited the first restaurant I visited myself, mr. nicks Greek cuisine. it was over 7PM and I could see that most of them appear in the ocean terminal mall. the personal of mr. nick is kindly obliged to sit outside in the veranda, although they initially show a takeaway. I ordered the med veg package and a cappuccino on the bar. the package was in fact very “Greek” and tasted good. the cappuccino was also perfectly done. moolah – less than 8GBP for a packaging and a coffee! positiw – good food, vegetarian choices available, very helpful and courteous staff, plentiful sitting opportunity, stunning view of the harbour when they decide to sit outside. negatiw: Watch the birds when they are in the open. recommended – eat them with sunset!
Our previous grubcrawl efforts were concentrated on the city center, so it was good to take the show to leith and put it through its steps. I had our beerman for business and gave him that he was a Leith-local, that I had left him because he found a lot of direction finding and two of our three restaurants were also his choice. we started in the shopping center grim ocean terminal, where the chains generally keep sway, but where an interesting new Greek place, herr Nick’s, had recently taken up his residence. we tried.
It is so refreshing to find something else than a chain restaurant in the ocean terminal. mr. nicks menu is simple and cheap for lunch, I have hunted in my chicken pit within minutes. the chicken was crispy and juicy, folded in a perfect pitta. the pommes were between and a little al dente, but that didn't bother me excessively. I followed my kebab with a huge serving of baklava, the ideal way to increase my butter and syrup levels (which I suspected were at all times low). I'll come back happy, the intention of the sea, the music and the authentic food will be as close as I come to Greece now.
There’s certainly no shortage of food outlets in Ocean Terminal, with the likes of Wagamama, Pizza Express and Franky Benny’s all taking up residence. On a recent visit, Mr. Nick’s seemed to be the only busy outlet, with only a couple of empty tables. We (the girlfriend and myself decided to try it out. We both went for the Chicken Gyros pita. It’s described on the menu as being wrapped with tomatoes, onion tzatziki and fries and was only £4.50. Who would have thought that including fries in a pita would be such a good idea? The meat to salad to fries ratio was spot on, and there was just enough of each to keep hunger at bay but not ruin my appetite for dinner later. The staff at Mr Nicks were both friendly and helpful, making it a delightful place to pop into for a spot of lunch. It’s perfect for grabbing a quick bite to eat while out shopping or grabbing some dinner before or after a visit to the cinema. Note: They don't offer alcoholic beverages (Sorry! I didn't get any pics during this visit. Read the full review here:
