Located inside Edinburgh Castle, by the One O'Clock Gun, this cafe is busy serving a lot of people. The free bathrooms are always in use due to the cafe's popularity. During our morning exploration of the grounds, we stopped by for drinks and a sweet treat. I had tea with a scone, while my partner had an americano with chocolate cake. The dining room offered stunning views of the city and the Firth of Forth. Although the sweets were not impressive, the drinks were great. I would definitely come back for takeaway beverages and to use the convenient bathroom facilities. Just make sure to clean up after yourself!
We usually avoid cafes in tourist spots, but during our visit to Edinburgh Castle, we found ourselves at the Red Coat Café in need of a meal at 1 p.m. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, despite the higher prices. We ordered two bowls of soup for £6 each, a ham and cheddar baguette for £5, a vegetable pizza for £7.50, a smoothie for £2.80, and two bottles of water for £1.80 each, totaling £30.90. The food was good enough to justify the cost, making it a decent option for dining at the Edinburgh Castle.
Technically I'm a blue coat so I didn't go here, but I seen it. My favorite grandson Chris used the bathroom close to here, but he's also a blue coat and didn't come here either. The war is over. Blue coat won because they look better fashion. Can you hear the drummer boy? Bah rum bum bum bum. Looks like a nice place to eat. But again, blue coat. If I was a hat person I was wear a 13 States hat. Trump not Good president. Obama's also not too good. I personally though Bill Clinton was better. Ok posting original. Ezekiel 23 19-23
There were seven of us traveling together for family vacation. It is hard to find something that everyone wants to eat and agrees on. We had just finished touring throughout the castle and were hungry so it was out of convenience that we went there. We are Americans and it was a cafeteria style eatery which is good because we have so many people in our group. You take a tray, go up to the counter and order food displayed behind glass barrier, get the plate with food and then pay at the end. The customer service was lousy. I have worked in catering for over 15 years, so I know what it 's like to get crappy customers who are picky, rude and downright mean. Despite all of that, you still need to maintain your composure. Well the girl that was serving us did not get that memo. The deal was if you get a main dish you had your pick of 2 sides. She never said anything to my sister or husband about that so they only got one thing. She slammed the plate down on the counter when she finished dishing out the food and her face was angry. My dad had asked her what a certain food was because we did not know and we wanted to make sure it was vegetarian. She rudely replied it 's a plant so it 's vegetable. The salmon was seasoned well. There are plenty vegetarian soups which were amazing. The cheese pizza my kids ate was good and so was the portion size. The salad was fresh. The cooked carrots and potatoes were delicious. The rating merely reflects the attitude of the worker there because the food was good.
