It is more of a fast food place than an actual restaurant. Very small inside, there's two floors, but the place seems very small. Out of everything that we ordered, the only thing that I enjoyed was the tzaziki. And, they do not have a doner.
We've driven by several times and finally stopped in. It was dark inside and not busy so that is usually not a good sign. Grandmother was behind the counter and the daughter and kids had just left, there were no other customers. She served us well, though some words were lost in the accent. We ordered donair platter with potato and greek salad, along with large side of hummus and medley wrap. Received chicken wrap instead of the mixed meat. Smelled great, the taste did not match unfortunately. Love supporting local but the potatoes smelled and tasted unusually, even my husband who is a big potato fan couldn't eat them. The hummus was salty and lumpy and the tzatziki was bland. The worst was the gyro, dry and burnt on the ends of the strip.Sadly this is not a venue to venture into at this time, hope they can improve it to compete with nearby establishments.
Really nice little place, kind of a small family run type of atmosphere but the food was excellent, the people very nice and it was clean. The dolomades are amongst the best I've had anywhere and the baklava was almost too good for words. Good prices and portions too.
While going to a true greek restaurant is all about the experience, sparta is that just no belly dancing, the food is on par with the fancy places and it's a really good price too for what you get.
My fiancé and I are locals to the area and have been eating at Sparta for years. It’s like having lunch at home with your grandmother! The owner, who does the vast majority of the work herself, is an absolute sweetheart whom we love to bits! She cooks her food fresh every day. My fiance always gets the lamb wrap, while I usually get the chicken. In the four years I've been going there her meat has always been perfectly cooked – never over or under done. My fiance has been going there by himself for even longer than I have and he and his friends have never had any issues or illness from her cooking, so I can tell you we feel very safe to eat there. As a side dish we usually go between fries and greek salad. I am spoiled to greek salad now – I can’t stand any but hers. The crumbled feta isn’t too salty and blends perfectly with the dressing, and the veggies are always nice and crisp. Once in a while we treat ourselves to her calamari, which is fried nice and crisp and has never been unpleasantly chewy like other quick food places. She usually has coffee and will make tea for you if you ask, otherwise she has a pretty decent selection of pop and juice in the fridge. If you get the chance to try her baklava (or any of her baking, really) fresh, do it! It’s not overly sweet and deliciously flakey. The upstairs eating area is nice and quiet if you prefer a more private experience (we took our realtor for lunch there when we were signing papers to buy our house; we sat for over an hour and were easily able to talk without being disturbed or feeling awkward. I would certainly recommend it for a business lunch meeting as well as for casual dining). The music isn’t loud, but it’s enough to add a nice touch. She goes between a classic Greek soundtrack and local radio. I cannot express just how wonderful the owner has been to us over the years, and how much my fiance and I appreciate her presence in the neighborhood. I hope you take time to stop by Sparta Greek Grill. You won’t regret it!
