Spartans Greek Taverna - Edmonton

Some of the best Greek food I had in years! it's a bit more (street 27-$34), but it's worth it, as everything is made from scratch with large portions! the appetizers are also affordable, the pitas are amazing! great atmosphere overall. we had the best date tonight! we will definitely be back for our jubilee in October!

Update: we went back last night and eating was absolutely excellent. best Greek cuisine I had for years. so happy that this place is close to home, as I will return. we had dinner tonight and really enjoyed the atmosphere. our waitress was great. super friendly. the food was great. large portions and tasted amazing. will come back in any case.

The food was excellent! Especially the bell pepper dip (kopanisti). There were a few non food related issues though, otherwise this would have been a 5. The bathroom was not well kept. Paper towels on the floor, no paper towels available, no soap in dispenser, etc. The other big issue was the music. The restaurant was not busy, bit the volume was extremely loud. So much so, that I could not hear my wife a few feet away. I asked our server, Don, to turn the volume down, but he did not. We were also charged for extra dip that we did not ask for, and while it was removed, it was a little suspicious as we did ask for extra pita for the dip. Another annoyance was the fact that we did not get nearly enough pita for the dip. We asked for more, and we were charged, which didn't sit well. I would recommend simply sending more pita with the dip, and just adjusting the cost. Other than that, the food was really good!

I would recommens the lamb shank and lansanga 100%! The lasanga came with a fresh salad that was made carefully as if it was a main dish. Very friendly staff (server was Don , upbeat and lively atmosphere. Washrooms kept clean and tidy. On Fri/Sat nights, they have a dance floor with a dancer who engages with the guests, and they had plate smashing; both of which made the place have a strong culture/community feel :
