Sushi-ya - Edmonton

Great little location in the basement of city centre mall (moving to commerce place food court in the future as the parkade gets built at city centre). Everything is prepared fresh. Their maki is excellent, chirashi bowls are a great value and the chefs are very nice. Can get busy at lunch time so be prepared for a short wait but worth it. Chopped scallop cone is my go to.

Don't be fooled by the modest mall location of this unassuming take-out place. The toro is fresh and tasty. While price is too high, it is a delight to eat both the toro (fatty tuna) and the chopped scallop. The staff are friendly, efficient and accommodating.

I love Sushi-ya. Their sushi is hand made and very fresh. Their Tuna is to die for and I cannot get enough of it. Their other selections are good, but I'm a sucker for tuna, so that's my go to there.

Although I am from Vancouver, known for its fantastic sushi, I found this restaurant's sushi to be flavorless and excessively expensive.

The service at this restaurant was subpar and the quality of the food was just average.
