Calanais Visitor Centre - Eilean Siar

Initially, we were relieved to find a restaurant open for lunch in February. However, we would have been better off eating a cold picnic in our car. The first thing we noticed in the café was a strong, unpleasant smell of rancid fat. Some of us were hesitant to place our order for lentil and tomato soup, while I tried to find a table that wasn't left dirty by previous customers. Eventually, I had to clean a table myself, as I saw no one else doing it. When the food arrived, it was disappointing - the soup portion was small, barely warm, and came with only a tiny slice of bread. The staff seemed overworked and the whole café had a dated, neglected feel to it.

Well- stocked gift shop, bustling cafe, helpful staff and clean toilets. Exhibit worth a look, although not much for younger children (lots of interpretive boards) aside from the short AV clip

We stopped here to see some more standing stones, like Stonehenge, and also for lunch. The wind was horrific, and very difficult to stand and move about, so quite a few of us opted NOT to go close to the stones, but to have lunch....Self-serve unch was quite good, and were able to get and eat fairly quickly. They also have a very nice gift shop. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the vicinity.

We had no idea that there was a cafe here so when we found that it makes fantastic cakes and homemade apple pie and coffee and soup and everything you could hope for for a light lunch we were very pleasantly surprised! The gift shop...it is also one of the best we came across with an extremely friendly and helpful gentleman assisting

We had a pleasant experience at The Rocks in the city center. The food was delicious and the staff was extremely friendly. The gift shop was also impressive, but the standout was the exceptional service. We purchased a large souvenir and decided to have it shipped back. The service was top-notch, even following up with a phone call to check on the delivery and offering to reduce the shipping fee. Overall, it was an outstanding experience.
