Not only a small mini market for supplies, but a sub post office AND a small Cafe. There is also a small Museum and archive of local interest and guess what. ~24/7 Fuel pumps. We tried the Cafe which was sort of self help, Pour your own Coffee/tea and help yourself to various cakes hygienically kept under glass covers and tongs provided. The Sultana Cake was delicious. One pays at the PO counter at a fixed price per item. It was so good and the staff so helpful we actually made a point of returning twice more and we found the cooking very consistent. What a lovely place with great views from the cafe over the loch. There was roof work taking place with the appropriate warning notice and apology but it did not spoil our enjoyment. Go there and enjoy. We did. The shop sold delicious Lemon curd flavoured Orkney Ice Cream in tubs. Had to try it and returned for the fudge flavour next day.
We popped by today on a rather wet day to find the cafe and the museum closed. The views are good but unfair still to be advertising the place on various websites as clearly closed. I should have put two and two together when reading the last review being in 2019. Nice drive on a nice day but don’t expect to get a brew or bun.
We just decided to turn off the main road to see where it went. We saw Ravenspoint and fancied a cuppa and so we stopped, rather amazed to find this place in the middle of nowhere . We were glad we did we spent some time chatting to the lady owner and then said we wanted tea and enquired if she had decaffeinated tea. She said no so we were about to get a bag out of our car when she went into he shop and opened a bag of decaffeinated tea just for us! Tea and lovely fresh scones jam were very refreshing. Then we explored the museum which was very informative. This was a great place to stop. Thank you for being there!
Lovely spot for a light lunch or coffee and cake. Featherlight scones and good hot chocolate. Not far off the main road and well worth the diversion.
I stopped here for lunch on my way from Leverburgh to Stornaway but was disappointed to find the Cafe consisted of a self service coffee machine and a selection of chocolate biscuits on my visit. This was unusual because the Western Isles are peppered with small out of the way cafes like this serving food during the day.
