This was my go-to spot for lunch. For $4, you can order a vegetarian dish (generous portion) and a soda. Just tell them you want the "plato vegetariano" and the friendly ladies working there will assist you. The typical plate includes rice, beans, tortillas, a variety of vegetables, and a side salad. They may offer fried bananas or plantains, but it's unclear if they are cooked with butter. Be aware that they may serve your meal with a spoon that has been used for meat. Vegetarianism is not common in this area, so using a separate spoon may seem unusual. Just make sure to ask.
