Ambar - El Paso

Our first impression wasn't very positive. The hostess refused to seat us at one of the two open booths, but after speaking with a manager, it seemed there was no issue with that. Our server was fantastic—polite and energetic. She was well-informed about the menu and addressed all our questions. Although it took nearly 20 minutes to receive our drinks, they were delightful! I highly recommend the smoked tequila old fashioned; it struck a perfect balance of flavor with the smoke and spice from the ancho reyes liqueur. The spicy margarita was also quite tasty. The carnitas were the highlight of our meal—so flavorful and incredibly tender. The torta ahogada didn't match what I had in mind, but it was still very enjoyable. For dessert, we tried the Mexican opera torte, which unfortunately was dry and lacking in flavor. I would suggest opting for something different.

As a regular patron, Ambar consistently impresses me. The food, atmosphere, and service all go above and beyond my expectations. I will keep coming back, as I am always satisfied with the overall experience.

The lamb chops were fantastic, and the bar service was excellent. They have an impressive selection of bourbon Manhattans and tequila options.

Hostess was clueless. System was down. Wasn't greeted by a server for over 15 minutes once finally seated and overheard their system was down. That made sense, so we left.
