Rubio's Coastal Grill - Elk Grove

The main dishes were enjoyable, but the rice and beans were lacking in flavor. The churros were delicious. The restaurant was short-staffed during a fundraiser for my daughter's school, which resulted in slow service, but the staff were making an effort.

Overall, I usually like Rubio's, but I had a disappointing experience recently. I witnessed an employee taking a break and then returning to work without washing her hands. She was picking food out of her teeth, making a drink, and touching the fountain drink buttons with the same fingers she used to remove food from her teeth. Additionally, my shrimp was lukewarm and the keto taco was not hot. I waited for my food to be prepared, so I am not sure why it was cold. I would suggest that management ensures all employees wash their hands after returning to the work area, especially since the employee was also serving food to customers.

Today we had a terrible experience at this restaurant. We are a couple who are regular customers and usually enjoy eating here. However, tonight we ordered the Baja Caesar Salad and were extremely disappointed with what we received. It was basically just cabbage, which we did not think was suitable for a dinner dish. Despite our concerns, they still served it to us. We felt like we were the butt of a $37 joke.

Didn't let me know my order was down. Even though I was the only customer in the store at 8:20pm. Tossed it on the counter with several other orders that were waiting on door dash and the like. Ordered two burritos one shrimp and one Mahi Mahi. Neither wasmarked so had no idea which burrito was which. Good food, marginal service. At least the staff showed up to work, anymore that'ssomething. Made me wish I could take my 20% tip back.

I?ve had Rubios in Fresno which is actually great. The service and quality of food in Fresno was phenomenal. Imagine my surprise to find that the Rubio?s in Elk Grove absolutely sucks. The service is deplorable, and the staff was still cleaning at opening.The management must be incompetent for the staff to be just finishing their cleaning process at opening. Surprised to see poorleadership and quality in Elk Grove as compared to Fresno.
