The Garden - Elkhart

Run down hotel which appears to have a dubious Clientele. Pool drained and no workout facilities. Front desk was nice enough which is the reason for the two stars. No kitchen on premises and the attached restaurant appeared closed. Would pass on this one. Uncomfortable bed and pillows

If you want a nice place to get a good night's rest and a place that's accessible to restaurants and shopping and very comfortable beds....then this is the place. First right turn off the toll road and you're there. Staff is very friendly and helpful to try to accomodate all your needs while there. While nothing fancy it is good value.

Oh boy; where to start? Well, it’s safe to say, this place probably won’t be mistaken for a Four Seasons anytime soon. The outer appearance of the building and grounds, will leave a little to be desired; and overall curb appeal is rather lacking. The inside? Well, we’ll get to the inside in a minute or two.... The Good: This property does have a good location: its close to the interstate; as well as several restaurants, including a family place called Callahan’s, which sits at the front of the driveway. Walmart and more(package stores? are just around the corner too. They also have a huge side parking lot; exclusively used for semi trucks, motor homes, etc; which is handy....Oh, and the nice young lady at the front desk was extremely nice, and did a fine job of checking us in, etc....Sorry we didn’t catch her name, so she’d get recognized. On the flip, we ran into the manager, who wasn’t very friendly at all... The Bad: The motel itself is in a major need of repairs, and renovations. The list: The sink stays clogged up; the toilet doesn’t flush properly; the Heater n A/C unit is very inconsistent. And of course, besides a good cleaning, the rooms are in pretty bad shape overall. Carpet needs replaced, walls need painting, and everything else replaced. The rooms still have popcorn ceilings; which went out in the early 90’s. The bathroom needs a complete renovation as well. The pool area, though it is winter, doesn’t look very appealing. The rest of the outside? Well, you’re starting to get the picture.... Would we stay here again? Well, they do have truck parking, and with a rate of $48 on a weekend, it was roughly 1/2 the price of their competitors. But all being said, probably not; at least not multiple nights. Honestly, the owners need to close half the motel for the winter, and completely redo a portion; and then next winter, do the rest. To me, it’s a no brainer: it’d improve the property, while making it more inviting. And besides, I’m sure they realize it’s a tax write off.... Oh, almost forgot: there’s an on property restaurant, which was closed down for some reason(we heard repairs ? ....But, we have another theory. So, given all the shortcomings at this time, I’d have to say No, sadly, we wouldn’t recommend a stay here: Even with the discount, or any other coupon...Sorry Note: I tried taking pics, but my phone memory was full.... sorry

Awesome Authentic Indian Food, you will not be disappointed. Chicken Saag, Butter Chicken Masala is my favorite. Indian Style Pizza is amazing also. Very pleasant nice people running the restaurant. Enjoy!!!
