Royalls Soda Shop - Elkin

The milkshake flavors change regularly, so make sure to check the marker board to see what's available; they serve classic milkshakes made with real milk. The place has a charming, old-fashioned vibe, from the food to the decor, including a delightful train that travels along the wall. Just a note: I couldn’t find their menu online, so I took some photos to share here.

The prices are reasonable, and the welcoming atmosphere created by the friendly staff and owners makes you feel at home and encourages you to linger. Although I don’t usually get out much, the food here lifts my spirits. It’s a fantastic spot for families, whether for lunch or enjoying some ice cream!

I absolutely adore the atmosphere here—it's full of small-town charm, combined with delicious food, reasonable prices, and friendly service. The hot dogs are well-deservedly famous, but there’s so much more on the menu! Overall, it’s just a wonderful experience. It reminds me of being a kid again, strolling through the city center and enjoying an ice cream cone from a local diner or soda shop!

Best Hotdogs in all U S. Best Fritten. The largest old soda shop in the south. I found out they were closing. I'm sorry I really miss this place.

Had a wonderful day in Elkin with my family. After taking a long hike at the local park, we decided an ice cream was in order. Royall's is a wonderful throw back to the way ice cream shops used to be. They may not have the selection of a baskin robins, but the friendliness of the staff and price were on point. Will def visit this establishment again.
