Came back a second time and it looked like they may have tweaked their menu a bit--all for the better. We got the lanzhou beef noodles (again! , the braised beef noodle soup, the braised beef rice and popcorn chicken. I think they did much better identifying as a Taiwanese restaurant with the food offered. The popcorn chicken was generously portioned and you really get the spice blend on its crust. The noodle soups were winners. Others have commented on the amount of garlic in the food which we also noticed the first time we ate, and this was not there anymore so that was a nice change. The Lanzhou beef noodle broth was light and refreshing and you can taste the depth of the broth in the beef braised noodle soup. I would like better proportions for rice and beef and the rice bowl but the flavors were still there. Love the changes and we may be back should we be in the area again.
My husband can't handle spicy food so he ordered the regular beef noodle dish but it was covered in spicy oil so much so that when I had it it burned my lips. It also wasn't that great . I wouldn't recommend it for the noodle dishes. Wouldnt say its worth the money
Came in to try for the second time. The first time I tried the braised beef Noodle soup. The beef was very good. The soup was very flavorful but way way too much salt and way too much fresh garlic, it was a little overpowering. The noodles were way over cooked. Texture was like overcooked spaghetti. This time they fixed the noodles, it was no longer over cooked but the soup was again way way too salty and the garlic was too strong. I think it overpowers what otherwise would have been a very nice flavored noodle soup. Skewers were okay, nothing to write home about. I think I still prefer the skewers at the Spot and East Dumpling house in Rockville. If this place wants to get serious about their soup noodles, they need to fix the soup. And please get some soup spoons. Eating Chinese noodle soup with plastic tea spoon is ridiculous
I love this place for their ample seating space, perfect for chit chatting with friends. This was my first time eating from this place, but the food was mediocre at best. A friend and I shared the chicken filet and the mini sausage, which was a good amount of food for a very light meal. The chicken filet came in a medium sized box, freshly fried to order. However, it was not crispy, but kind of dry and very oily in both appearance and flavor. As for the mini sausages, I guess they are true to the name because they were really small (about the size of 2/3 of my pinky) but haha it was kinda cute. And it was a good thing they were small because they did not taste good. The first bite reminded me of the Gobi dessert (because they were DRY af). Second bite- these were not the juicy Vienna sausages I was expecting. Rather, they kind of tasted like some Asian spices that I couldn't exactly place a finger on (so if you're into that, by all means please try them out). I'm not sure if that was what they were supposed to taste like; maybe they just weren't for me Perhaps I'll go for their poke bowl if I ever go back there.
