Duchess Variety Store - Ellicott City

Small spot not a big variety but what they have is super fresh and packed. The lady making the sandwiches is super friendly. If you want to be full with a great sandwich for 3.50 this is the only place to go.

Maggie makes an incredible brown bag lunch at The Duchess. Very bubbly and kind lady who had great stories while she made my sandwich and coffee/oreo milkshake. While the deli isn't fancy, you can walk away smiling with a $5 lunch and a HoCo newspaper!

Sure, its your average sandwich, but with lots of meat. The price alone should bring you in. The fact that it's made by an older lady with love and care will keep you coming back.

Visited Maryland for business and came across this location. Delightfully good sandwiches with fresh ingredients, and piled high with everything you can ask for. A hidden gem and more than worth your time and patronage. Don't be put off by the limited spaces in the front parking lot, there is more parking just behind the building.

Finally tried this place everyone raves about. Truly delicious, super basic sandwiches. I think it's the white bread and real mayo, but also how crisp and fresh the lettuce and tomato are, the extremely thin sliced meat, and the ratio of meat, veg, and bread, which is great.
