We were second in line and seated promptly. While showing us to our table, the hostess stated that due to volume, we only have the table for one hour. We ordered quickly and our food was delivered to the table soon thereafter. One entrée was the Rouladen nightly special $28.00). The menu states it was slow roasted; however, the beef had a very hard sear rendering it difficult to cut and eat. It was stuffed with bacon that appeared to not have been cooked prior to stuffing it in the roulade – it was rubbery and flabby. My companion ordered the Wienerschnitzel $26.00). She wanted to switch the demi glaze for the Rahm sauce but was told that due to volume, they would not allow any substitutions – no exceptions. The breadcrumb mixture was so salty it tasted like saltine crackers were used for the crumbs. The demi glaze was also overly salted rendering the Schnitzel was inedible. Both entrées came with red cabbage it was cold on both of our plates. We asked our server, Cody, if it was supposed to be cold, and he replied no. Cody stated that he would tell the kitchen staff to check the temperature of the cabbage so it does not happen to anyone else. He did not offer to warm up the uneaten red cabbage on our plates or bring us another order of red cabbage that would have possibly been warmer. The information regarding their policies of time allowed at the table and no substitutions is for your information. This complaint is regarding the bad food and food that was not served at the correct temperature and was not rectified.

Wierd visit. Hostess was very cold, not very friendly. Told us we have the table for an hour, which makes sense cuz they were busy but it was wierd the way it was presented to us. All the staff seemed like they were annoyed we were there. Beer was good. Food good but was very salty. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
We adore Hugel Haus. We go there every weekend we visit DC, about 8 times a year. My favorite is the weiner schnitzel. It is divine with a tall glass of the Celebrator beer. From the honey sauerkraut to the red cabbage everything here is delightfully delicious. It is rare to find a unique restaurant that does not serve standard American fare or wildly odd combinations. You want good German food? Go here. The staff are super kind and helpful. The bartenders are quick and nice. Wish they let you bring glasses outside instead of plastic cups. Bathrooms clean. Decor sparse Wisconsin classic. Food full of flavor and good feelings. We love it. Kid-friendliness: Super helpful with out child.
The staff was great and ensured a friendly environment. the food was great and enjoyed by all from 5.72. we are coming back in a definitiw.
