We were tired after a long drive, and were hoping to find a cafe with wifi, but found so much more. Guido welcomed us, and made every effort to make us feel comfortable, and used google translate when needed. so instead of a quick coffee and checking emails, we stayed several hours and had a delicious dinner. Guido 's wife Nellie does the cooking, Nellie cooked at the Carlton in Lisbon! and we had the cod gratinee, salad, pork loin that melted in the mouth, fries, and a spinach dish, local dessert, and washed down with a regional wine. There was coffee and 'boleta ' acorn liquor to follow, all for 33 Euros, great value!. We had the same on our return visit a month later. There were other dishes on the menu that were tempting, Guido showed us the rabbit, and house special cod that others had ordered . The menu covers soups, omelettes, meat and fish dishes, and also sandwiches, something for everyone. The wine list is regional, and very reasonably priced. We enjoyed the red from Estramoz for €5.50. This is a family run business that is in the heart of the community, incredibly friendly, we got to meet a few of the locals, they are obviously, and rightly so, very proud of their business, which is kept immaculate inside and out. We would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant, and would go out of our way to eat there again, and enjoy the local hospitality!
