El Canelo Mexican - Elwood

From the moment you step into El Canelo, you immediately sense that you're about to enjoy some genuinely authentic cuisine. The decor is unmistakably Mexican, setting a lively mood. Even though the restaurant is busy, the service is outstanding. The staff truly goes the extra mile to cater to your needs, making you feel like part of the family. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

I really urge you to pay closer attention to phone orders. I ordered supreme nachos, but what I received was something entirely different. I've documented the incident and have two witnesses who can vouch for me. Mistakes with orders seem to happen frequently. To make matters worse, the hamburger meat was cold, and there wasn't even any cheese in it. Honestly, coming from the San Diego border, I expect more than just meat and chips in my tacos. My roommate had a similar issue; we specifically requested no lettuce, but they still included it. It's clear that the manager wasn't paying attention to the order—if they even were the manager. If you could just listen and get my order right, I wouldn't be this frustrated. It really is a simple concept. This was the worst experience I've ever had!

I still enjoy the food, but the entire staff has changed. We used to know the team well because we visited often. This isn't the first time they've completely revamped the staff. (Not that there's anything wrong with the current team.) A year or two ago, they also changed the chips, and now they're hard instead of crispy. On a positive note, the salsa is really good, and the fajita Tabasco is my favorite dish.

Service was good, food was amazing. Loved the mushrooms in each of the dishes we got, they were very well seasoned and cooked. The rice was best I've had in a long time. Complements from everyone in our group.
