Lane's Diner - Ely

This establishment is a combination of a cozy business and a cafe-style restaurant. I was a bit disappointed that the cafe section was closed when I visited early in the morning, but the coffee in the comfortable lobby area was decent for just $2. The main reason I am writing this review is because the bathroom was exceptionally clean. It was impressive to see such high standards, especially considering the location (the city had a population of over 282 in the 2010 census). I would recommend this place as a great pit stop while traveling through the area, especially on a road trip.

The staff at this restaurant are incredibly friendly and attentive. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that the waiter was also the chef. After enjoying our delicious burgers and sandwiches, we watched him tending to the plants outside. The food was satisfying and we were impressed by the freshness of the salad and desserts, despite the restaurant's remote location.

- I love this place. What happened? my wife ordered chicken stripes and mom and I had the sink and the bon soup. the taste of the broth was good, but the beans were not done. when we mentioned it to cook, she only argued with us and said what was done that she had drunk the whole night. with a little excuse we could have overlooked that it didn't turn out right, but fighting with the customer is just not good. then, to hide it from the chicken strips of my wife, was just that. no pommes, no chips only 3 karge chicken strips. it'll take a while before we get back there.

I cannot believe how terrible our experience was at this restaurant. When we arrived, there were only two people inside and we had to wait nearly 10 minutes without even seeing a waitress. We were confused about whether the restaurant was open until I finally approached the kitchen and found the waitress, who told us we had to place our order in the attached mini mart. It would have been helpful to have a sign indicating that in the restaurant. After we finally placed our order and sat down, we noticed a spider crawling on the window and even had to move tables because of bugs everywhere. The waitress was unfriendly and never checked on us. We did not leave a tip and will definitely not be returning. The health department should inspect this place - it was absolutely disgusting.

Chili burger and fries and a cup of cheesy broccoli soup. The chef brought the extra fries out for free and the server said the first glass of wine is free because it was just the last of that bottle! I dig this place! The food is always good. Not just good, but REALLY good! They even have malt vinegar for the fries! — eating deliciousness at Lane's Diner.
