There are several tourist oriented places to eat on the main square in town, but my husband and I decided to wander a bit and came upon Gasthaus Mumlingstube. It's right on the other side of the small river that surrounds old town so only involves about a two block walk if you are staying in the heart of the historic center. The establishment is also a hotel but we only ate dinner there. It was amazingly good, and authentic food. The dishes were local in character, proportions were generous, and the restaurant was very clean. The whole place, including the kitchen, is run by a family who clearly takes pride in their work. We happened to visit during the annual potato festival so enjoyed a bit of their local potato schnapps! They have a nice website [hidden link].
I was a guest at the Mümlingstube for the first time. Firstly, as a hungry cyclist who finds a perfect cheap accommodation. The menu with reference to regional suppliers is particularly worth mentioning. Amazing friendly treatment as a guest and for me tastefully the food as it should be, carefree and original. Only recommended. Oh, so the next morning there was an extensive breakfast (vegetarian variant plate is good). I could keep my bike tour saturated.
Original odenwald dishes at the fair price of the odenwald has more to offer than carving they can surprise the beautiful operation a dream for odenwälder
I walked by the Mümlingstube at noon. Then I saw the sign for lunch. I went to the inn. The food was rich and very well tasted. Then also a delicious dessert. The condition was very friendly. Come back...
Beautiful inn, great dishes from many local producers, highly recommended!
