Auberge Du Cabestan - Esquibien

The interior of the restaurant is very poor and tasteless. Cold atmosphere. The owner accepted our dog, when asked before, but when we arrived, the dog was not welcome at all. The food was exceptionally poor. Even after we asked for...serviettes, we didn't get any. And that after eating langoustine for starter!!!! (and of course no lemon water)! We were told we get fish with a sauce for main dish, which doesn't have fish bones. Well it was bony! and no sauce! The side dish: carrots and potatoes were mushy, not peeled and cold. The top of disgust was the desert: the strawberry tartlet was hard as a brick! Not eatable. The chocolate cupcake wasn't baked well, still liquid. The dinner with three courses took 2 1/2 hours. Worst of all, we paid more for the menu than in any other restaurant during our holidays in Brittany.

Having had some delicious meals and wonderful memories of this restaurant from many years ago, we we delighted to find that it was back in the hands of the same family who ran it when we last visited. Whilst we were made to feel very...welcomen, unfortunately we were very disappointed with our meal not the same quality of fare that we remembered from days gone by.

We ate here on three of the four nights we stayed at this small hotel. The food is all cooked to order so it is not fast food . The ingredients are locally sourced as far as we could tell and the prices are reasonable. The...menu is varied with several set meals as well as a la carte so there must be something for even those who are difficult to please ! The service is polite and friendly. No problem with cleanliness.

We had the pleasure that the restaurant was open at every night of our last stay, as mme rintou is such an excellent cook. there is a focus on seafood and fish everything very fresh, but meat is also on the menu. like salate. the food is cooked to order, so it is a cozy meal instead of almost food . if they have the opportunity to try the house made lemon tarte.

We had a brilliant 4 days at the Auberge Du Cabestan in July, it was great for our family of 4, our daughters (18mths and 3.5 years) loved the space in our family room. The breakfast was large and tasty, we also enjoyed our evening meal there as well. It was ideally placed for exploring the region and our hosts were very knowledgable about the region and friendly. We felt very much at home - and could relax! Thank you
