Great food and service. I had two people wait on me. I ordered the house wings with hot sauce and blue cheese. Not to hot but tasted good. You will need extra napkins, which were provided. For my main course, I had haddock with seared sweet potato with rice pilaf and veggies. For dessert, I had buttercream tart with pumpkin latte ice-cream drizzled with caramel. Both dinner and dessert were good. My table wobbled, but, my server and I fixed it with a piece of cardboard. Music wasn't to loud, but it was quiet due to bad weather. I would recommend a visit. I don't know how the handicap can visit. Wifi available. Update: November 10,2018 Great food and service again! For the appetizer; Seared yellowfin tuna, slightly rare, with hoisen sauce with grilled avacado on cilantro cole slaw. Made my eyes water, a little. Salad; Grilled beets and ? cheese with balsamic vinaigrette. Dinner; salmon with long grain wild rice with broccoli. Dessert; the largest helping of tiramisu I have ever been served. Sorry Gaucho's. Very quiet place. Please visit. Update: August 2019; I had the Artichoke Bruschetta for an appetizer and the Grilled Petite Filet mignon for my main course. Dessert was Swiss chocolate cake. I enjoyed my meal! Great service!. Update: November, 2019; I had the feta dip as an appetizer with Filet mignon with vegetables, mashed potatoes and grilled mushrooms. I had what they called raspberry cheesecake. The cake slice was huge and tasted good! I enjoyed my meal and the service was good. Only issue, the restaurant was cold in the dining area. A couple left because of the cold. I still recommend a visit. Update: January, 2020; Still good service and food. I had French onion soup for an appetizer, marinated steak with garlic mashed potatoes and regular broccoli. Chocolate cake for dessert. Menu was smaller than last time and main restaurant section was still cold. I ate next to the bar. Bill Cosby, ugh, was correct in saying that the more people drink, the less they are able to hear, so the louder they get. One woman has a terrible cackle and one guy was plain loud. Update: Saturday evening ?, October 2021; My friend and I stopped in for a quick bite. She and I had french onion ? soup ?, house salad ? with balsamic vinaigrette and Squamscott ginger beer ?. We were given complimentary ? devilled eggs for an appetizer. Food was good, though, I ? thought the soup ? was okay ?. Very friendly service! The staff was glad we were sober! We missed the inebriated people from the Chili and beer ? festival. Only issue, the music ? was very loud ? a few times.
My family stopped there last night for a quick dinner and was not disappointed. A few mussels and buffalo wings to start and then the entrees. My son got the burger, definitely the right choice. The cocktails were perfect and my wife loved the 'Rum Thing '. The ambiance with the old mill brick interior is very nice. I would recommend this place if you are in the Exeter area.
My wife and I had a gift certificate for the tavern that we had been holding onto for years, and we finally found the perfect opportunity to use it. The Tavern has a cozy, small-town atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. As soon as you walk in, you half-expect Norm to come through the door and call out his name! The food was outstanding. I started with the wedge salad, which was not only huge but also delicious—just like my wife! For my main course, I had the pierogi, and it was simply out of this world. Our drinks were served promptly, and everything was reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this hidden gem in Exeter; it's definitely worth a visit. The owner was friendly and great to chat with, and I can't wait to return.
It won't win any Michelin stars, but that's not why we came. The dinner was decent, and the atmosphere is wonderfully cozy and welcoming, perfect for a small-town vibe.
