Mantarays is without a doubt the best hotel in Exmouth, unfortunately that doesn't mean much, as most of the accomodation in Exmouth is made up of caravan parks. Not sure how this hotel is rated as 4.5 stars, perhaps when it opened it was at a higher standard. The hotel and rooms are nice enough. Our room was super quiet which I appreciated immensely. Rooms are getting a bit dated. Our shower either had a fair bit of black mould or the grout had chipped away in a lot of areas. The wifi is nonexistent. I know this is a regional area but it is 2017, you'd think a hotel would be able to work something out for its large amount of guests, especially when there's little to no phone signal. Housekeeping came pretty early most days. 8.30am is too early to be doing housekeeping when people are on holiday and trying to sleep in. They were cleaning out a vacated room next to ours one day and were so loud. When they came to our door I asked them to come back after 9am when we had left the room. They never came back. I went to reception at 4 to confirm they'd be coming back and was told they'd gone for the day. None of the pay for movies would play on multiple nights. We asked reception to look into it and then it would be working the next day, but the following day it wouldn't be working again. What was most bizarre, and which I have never seen at a hotel before was the bed linen. Instead of the bed's feather blanket being covered in a bed cover (usually buttoned or snap locked) then having a sheet between you and that duvet (on top of the fitted mattress sheet), the feather blanket had no cover on it. They had simply put a loose sheet on top of and below it, so the feather blanket had no cover and in your sleep your body often touched the bare feather blanket that who knows how many other people have had their body touch, as I doubt they're washing the feather blanket for each guest.
We came for lunch, unfortunately the Club Accor benefits are not accepted for Friday or Saturday. However it was a beautiful outside setting with whales visible in the ocean, magical. The wait staff were very charming and helpful. The food was very good and the kids meals were lovely. It isnt cheap but probably the best place we ate in the whole region.
The food is quite good here and not as pricy as you would expect. It would be good if they expanded their bar menu to include burgers and salads.
Very nice dinner shared with lovely friends. All dishes were perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Service was extremely good (for Western Australia) ... Granted our perfectly attentive waitress was from overseas!! Meals nicely timed and staff knowledgeable about what they were serving. Lovely setting around the resort pool a small oasis.
