Junction Bistro, Bakery - Fairfax

The food was excellent, and the service was outstanding. Instead of ordering full meals, we opted for a variety of appetizers for our table of three. I highly recommend the Deviled Eggs—they were my favorite! The portions for the soup and most appetizers were generous. The atmosphere felt more casual than formal, despite the menu and pricing being more traditional. Other than that, I have no complaints. The prices are similar to other nice restaurants in Mosaic, with appetizers ranging from $12 to $16 and glasses of wine around $9.

The delay in getting food was hard to get over considering we were one of two tables filled and we had to keep trying to get the attention of the wait staff or ask for things repeatedly was disappointing. The food itself did not make up for the experience.

Additionally, he forgot our drinks and appetizers, which we had to request after our entrees arrived. He consistently made excuses and deflected blame, claiming that someone else was supposed to have brought our items out. I thought it was particularly unprofessional; he was our waiter, so who else would be responsible? It felt like he didn’t care since we were a group of six, and he likely knew his tip was guaranteed due to the automatic gratuity. Overall, the service was truly horrendous.

When I arrived, the floor was noticeably dirty with a lot of debris scattered around. I asked if the area under my table could be cleaned, and I was told, "yes," but it never happened. The waitstaff consisted of only two people—one female and one male. The female server seemed very attentive to her table, while the male waiter, who was in charge of my table, appeared disengaged and uninterested in his job. I waited over 10 minutes just to receive our water, and I had to remind him about our drink order. He responded by saying he thought I wanted to wait for the entire party before getting drinks, which I had never communicated. After that, his disdainful attitude became apparent, accompanied by unnecessary sarcastic comments. Since I was already feeling uncomfortable with the experience, I decided to leave before placing my order. This was really disappointing, as we were looking forward to trying out this new restaurant in the Mosaic District.
