Char 32 - Fairhope

Char is an outstanding restaurant. However, it's important to make reservations in advance since they fill up quickly, which is always a good indication of great food. The meals are consistently cooked to perfection, and the waitstaff is exceptionally professional and knowledgeable. Diners tend to dress casually and comfortably, yet still maintain a sense of style. It's definitely one of our top choices, and you can even drop by the bar for a cocktail in the evening!

Let's start with the positives: the duck and lamb appetizers were excellent, and the salad along with its dressing was quite enjoyable. Now, for the more mediocre aspects: the lobster bisque was decent, but not particularly memorable. It seemed that our server was new, which resulted in some inconsistencies in service. It wasn't terrible, but it didn't meet the expectations one would have for a nice restaurant. My friends took me to Char for a celebration. I always order filet but they suggested I try the rib-eye. Oh my! The best steak I?ve ever had ???? I can?t wait to return! The atmosphere is upscale and cozy.

It's a nice size for a restaurant these COVID days, and with pretty good service. The salmon I got was perfect on the inside, but burned outside. I know salmon is difficult to perfect, but for the price and expertise, let's not burn it. I had a side of mushrooms which were delicious!
