The steaks were ok but just ok There were children running in and out who were at a wedding in another room and no one once told them off. I was given a voucher and that was what we paid the meal with thank goodness I didn't have to pay cash for it Not once did anyone ask us was everything ok Overall it was a nasty experience
We went for Sunday lunch for my Dad's birthday. We weren't aware there was a specific menu for it (we didn't notice it online) but it was 2 courses for £15 ish and great value because the food was delicious. Most of our party had soup then roast beef, and the beef was amazing. It Looked like a steak (rather than the usual slices of beef we'd expected), but had the texture and flavour of roast beef. Yum. The staff was very friendly and very welcoming to my18 month niece. There was no stuffiness whatsoever. I was very pleasantly surprised by the whole meal and I have already recommended it to friends. The one criticism I have is that the waitress cleared everyone else's plates for their main courses while I was still eating. I find that rude and it made my feel awkward. Vegetarians might want to avoid Sunday lunch though because there was only one vegetarian option on the menu.
My wife and I recently had a three day long weekend stay at the Inchyra Hotel, Polmont, Falkirk. Over the years, we have stayed at numerous Macdonald Hotels and thoroughly enjoyed them, but not this time. Whilst the hotel staff are warm and friendly and the facilities are good, the restaurant service is below the standards we have previously experienced with the Macdonald chain. We had breakfast on three mornings and an evening meal on the last night of our stay. The restaurant lacks the ambience, class and standards maintained by other typical Macdonalds establishments. We noticed adult guests accompanied by children were allowed to enter the restaurant area whilst still wearing night attire for breakfast? The bar area is sited directly in the centre of the room giving a feeling of sitting in a public house or social club. The second day (Saturday) breakfast took 40 minutes to serve after the order was made, which eventually arrived on lukewarm plates. Whilst the food and service on Saturday evening was acceptable, the plates were again lukewarm. Cheese was served without biscuits. Owing to the bar taking up a central position in the restaurant, it detracted from what should be a pleasant dining experience. Sunday hot breakfast was an help yourself affair, with the food being served from temporary service trays being kept lukewarm over burners. The scrambled eggs were congealed and had the consistency of rubber. Once again the plates were cool. This is not typical of the high standards my wife and I have previously experienced with the Macdonalds chain.
Restaurant was uncomfortably cold at window side, starter was cold, steak was fatty, wife's cooked medium instead of well done, overall poor.
