Feedback gevenI had an amazing experience here from start to finish. I walked in the back gate and and wound my way through different pieces of art and knick knacks and ordered a coffee and while I waited I had a great conversation with a young man from Brazil who was very professional, polite and engaging while he made my coffee. After me and a friend had been there for a while we decided to have a late lunch and asked for a recommendation from the kitchen they were adamant that the veggie Marsala pie was the best on the menu and the rest of the staff backed up the suggestion so we ordered two. It was the best decision I had made all day. the flavors were powerful yet subtle and the textures quite nice too. All in all we left full and happy and shall return again!
This is a hidden gem for vegans and vegetarians. Tucked away on Mary St not far from Sydney's Central station, the menu is almost 100% vegan but they do offer eg. cow milk. If you don't like hipsters, steer clear, this is a very trendy hipster haven with fixies parked outside and a jumble of odd and interesting nick nacks next to the artworks displayed on the walls. The coffee is really excellent. Food is good they do a $12 vegan lunch special which is one of 5 pies with salad and sweet potato mash.
Loved the atmosphere, went there on a quiet Friday early afternoon, it was chill, and laid back, food was yummy, served fast! The coconut milk chai was soooo lovely and super delicious: I will be going back for more! The back courtyard was relaxing with all the plants and wooden tables vines all over and very arty. It's got all different artyness to it, and it feels like somebody's expression in a cafe. Its like an artwork and collaboration of different styles, the indoor nooks to eat all offer their own quirkiness and meet the needs of what you're looking for.. one guy was on his laptop in one section, the lighting had more of a romantic tine, it would also be a nice spot for a date. It's a bit of a maze to get out the back to the courtyard, and it's almost like entering a fantasy wonderland new world.. you forget you're in a little cafe off the beaten track of busy sydney city...
Wow... just wow. What a concept. This isn't the kind of place you just stumble upon. I actually hung around to check out the deviant manga art on the walls. It's easy to dismiss this place as pretentious because it's so alternative but hey, if it works for me it could work for you. The seating area is at the back in a small converted courtyard you really feel like you're in someone's house perhaps one of your cool friends? Menu was bold which kinda fits well with the place. Try the shitaake mushroom pie. You may think it contained meat but no. The buckwheat pancakes were also very palatable.
Personally not a vegan but if I was I would probably live here, service was great as was the shiitake pie.
